Maths and science top achievers, teachers to be rewarded

The matric 2022 maths and physical science top achievers, together with their respective teachers, will receive their bouquets in Peddie on Tuesday.

The award ceremony seeks to celebrate the achievements by pupils and teachers who placed Ngqushwa and the Amathole West district on the map in last year’s examinations.

The celebration will be hosted by Outlook Foundation in partnership with Uchumo Sizwe at Ntyatyambo Primary School.

Jomo Mkhathi, a spokesperson from non-profit organisation Uchumo Sizwe, said they had started the event to honour pupils who performed well in the last academic year.

Mkhathi said the event, which was first held in 2021, was a reminder to the pupils that they had made it, and a motivation to this year’s matrics to push hard.

The spokesperson said this would not be possible without organisations coming together to lend a helping hand to the schools in the district.
