R104m write-off stinks

Iwas left tongue-tied when I read the story “BCM considers writing off R 104m” (DD Dec 5). What a huge write off !

I agree with Border-kei Chamber of Business executive director Lizelle Maurice: “It doesn’t make sense if you haven’t got money and you write off money owed to you.” Consumers like myself are victims here.

The R104m, I guess, comes from “incorrect billing”, which is the weakness of Buffalo City Metro.

I am hounded by the lawyers of BCM for R60,000, which is owed by a consumer who, unfortunately for me, shares my surname (not initials).

I pleaded with legal firm to direct their demand according to the physical address and the erf number, so that they get the actual culprit. That is Greek to them.

This is more than wrong billing and inefficiency.

Food for thought: Are these deliberate errors to make money, thus oppressing innocent consumers?

I smell a rat when it comes to where this R104m will come from.

People like Lizelle should come forward and advise this dying municipality.
