ANC failing the youth

The ANC’S national youth task team (NYTT) should be urgently disbanded. Most young people didn’t even vote in the November 1 local government elections and yet now the NYTT members want to be mayors and speakers without any influence over their peers.

The ANC must just do away with the whole youth league and start a youth subcommittee in all ANC structures. The ANC youth like to be merely an extension of ANC leadership instead of being autonomous and thinking independently. They are failing both the ANC and SA youth in general. I know it hurts but it is the truth.

I have thought about this for a long time now and I don’t find any other options.

The youth in SA doesn’t find leadership in our youth structures and their views are not represented anywhere. They are killed daily.

They are victims of unemployment, being sidelined and isolated by those very ANC youth leaders. They are involved in drugs without anyone helping them. They are burdened with student debt with no voice on their behalf.

They have to struggle with sanitary towels while condoms are free. They struggle to find shelter even when they get a place to study.

They struggle to get identity documents. They are heads of families, all with no support from youth leaders.

They are dying alone through suicide, overwhelmed by unresolved challenges, all of which they have to face alone because they have no peer support.

And all the ANC youth leaders do is to flash their wealth on social media platforms.
